Staff Spotlight, OPS Park Ranger, Sean Wimbish

Alafia River State Park

Sean Wimbish was born in San Diego, California. During his early childhood as part of a military family, Sean moved around a bit before settling in Florida in 2004. While his time in the park service is just beginning, Sean’s love of nature and desire to help his community started at a young age. He volunteered regularly with his high school environmental club, which introduced Sean to the Florida Park Service, though he would take a scenic route before joining as a ranger.

Sean received his Bachelor of Science degree in Game Art from Full Sail University, during which time he  volunteered with the environmental club. Some of Sean’s favorite projects included removing invasive plants, planting trees and cleaning up beaches. Following university, Sean worked in the restaurant service as well as the automotive repair industry.

Sean has learned a lot since joining the Florida Park Service earlier this year. He enjoys participating in the state's prescribed burn program and providing visitor services. Getting to aid the growth of natural resources and interacting with many different types of people is exciting to Sean. He looks forward to learning more during his time with the park service as well as getting to see the many different cultural and natural resources each park has to offer.
