Volunteer Spotlight, Elaina Pia

Alafia River State Park

Elaina is a Tampa, Florida, native working on her associate’s degree in wildlife forestry.

She joined the Florida Conservation Corps’ Project ANT (AmeriCorps Non-native Plant Terminators) last year, which helped her expand her interests in conservation.

Through this position, Elaina has acquired many new skills. She has found learning about and participating in the park’s prescribed fire program to be most rewarding because of the incredible benefits for the flora and fauna.

Elaina continues to learn and grow as an OPS park ranger at Alafia River State Park, where she ensures the park’s natural and cultural resources are protected for the enjoyment of all visitors.
