Joel Robbins

Joel is the recipient of the 2023 Volunteer Award for a Citizen Support Organization in Cultural Resources.

Joel Robbins is appreciated for his years of involvement, helping develop the CSO at Oscar Scherer State Park. Through his efforts, park visitors can see how the local area was impacted by the turpentine industry. Joel has volunteered at the park since April 2013 and completed 2,684 volunteer hrs.

The team behind this event the recipient of the 2023 Volunteer Award for a Special Event in Natural Resources.

The Scrub-jay 5K & 10K is a great event that the community gets behind. It creates opportunities for local business partners to get involved with the park. Park staff, volunteers, CSO, and local business partners work together to create a successful family event.  Last year's event generated approximately $9,000 for the Friends of Oscar Scherer!  

 

 

 

Keith Hodgkinson

Keith Hodgkinson

Keith is the recipient of the 2023 Volunteer Award for 20 Years of Service.

Keith Hodgkinson has volunteered at Oscar Scherer since February 2003. Keith reached his milestone of 20 years earlier this year, volunteering over 3,606 hours. Keith always has a positive attitude and works well with others. He is willing to take on any assignment and enjoys helping any way he can.

 

 

 

Roger and Ana Scarberry

Roger and Ana are the recipients of the 2023 Volunteer Award for a Team in Protection.

Roger and Anna’s dedication has had a tremendous impact on the park. They go above and beyond cleaning campsites and restrooms. At night, Roger and Ana will often patrol the campground, providing the rangers with vital information. Protecting the people and the beauty of the park is paramount. Roger and Ana do an excellent job supporting this effort.
