Testimonials for Oleta River State Park
- "My family and I are regular visitors to Oleta. We feel as though this may be one of the most special parks in Southern Florida. There are excellent bike trails that cater to the whole family (including our youngest). While the bike trails are a real attraction for a family of four, the cabins that they have in the park are also a great attraction. We also enjoyed the kayaking, and overall, we find this park to be well maintaned, and the staff to be courteous and very helpful. A jewel in South Florida !! Highly recommend!"

Ed Filapowski - , - "This is my favorite park in the area. I live very close to Markham, and still I have to say that this is my favorite park. I really enjoy it here because there is something for everyone. I’ve only been riding (mountain bikes) for a few months, so indeed I wreck a lot. Since I came to Oleta, my style of riding has changed. I guess it is because I feel comfortable there. Whoever is taking care of this trail is doing a fantastic job. I hardly ever see any garbage or anything out there. This park has everything you want. Nice easy trails and lots of tech ones. Also...Tons of parking space, bathrooms close by, a bike wash, picnic tables and a lot of shade. Even a kewl BMX track right before the parking lots. Extremely nice ride, will make you want more and more."

Dominic - Sunrise, FL - We have a camping tradition to go camping every year with our kids for the Thanksgiving weekend. We always go up to Arcadia Fl. 3 hrs way to peace river and we love it. This year, we decided to try Oleta River and their Cabins. We loved it. It was so peaceful and beautiful. The bike trails are incredible. Our kids had a great time riding bike and playing with racoons. The cabins are adorable and cozy and they smell like smoked wood. We were so relaxed, and stress-free. We already made reservations for Thanksgiving 2006! My kids are very excited about going back again.
Judy P. Urrea - Miami, Fl - Recently my wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Oleta State Park. What a wonderful surprise to find this oasis of nature amid the bustle of Miami! We came to the Southern Florida from Michigan not only to enjoy the sun and sand, but also to meet our daughter and her husband who were flying into Miami from South America.
When our daughters flight from Peru was canceled and rescheduled for the following day, my wife and I were forced to change our plans as well. Not only did we have to book an additional night at Oleta, but also cancel our reservations at another Florida State Park for the next day. The Oleta staff came to our rescue. They made arrangements to extend our stay, helped us find a local store with Internet access, and even contacted the other state part to cancel our reservation so that we would not be charged.
Certainly, if the staff at Oleta is any indication, the Florida State Parks really do deserve the Nations Best honors they have been awarded.
Phil Christian - Kalamazoo, Michigan - My husband and I love Oleta Park. We take advantage of many of the features, particularly we've discovered kayaking. We even "think" we've seen an alligator on one of our recent kayak adventures. We've enjoyed some of the bike trails, the bike adventure hills, and the beautiful beach and swimming. We also have met some interesting people while enjoying our kayak. The ranger is always helpful in providing maps and other information. They've even provided "free" helmets for bike riding when we'd left ours at home. We enjoy the butterfly garden and the resident garden raccoon. What a great park!!! May 2007
Genevieve Schwartzberg - Sunny Isles Beach, fl - I was working in Miami for a few weeks this winter when I stumbled across Oleta River State Park. There is bicycle and kayak rental available in the park. I rented a mountain bike and spent hours playing on the trails. Flowers, birds, wildlife, what an amazing surprise in urban Miami! Enjoyed myself so much that I came back a second time during that trip. The trails vary from easy enough for beginners to somewhat more challenging for advanced intermediate riders who are capable of riding steep ramps, narrow bridges etc. Soil is mostly hard-pack with some sand. A few wetspots that are probably seasonal. No hills, but a few short steep pitches. Couple of good hard pedal strokes and you're right on top. Excellent service from the rental shop.
Biking, kayaking, swimming, there is something for everyone at Oleta River State Park.
