Testimonials for St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park
- I just wanted to thank the great staff of rangers at St. Sebastian River Preserve! They did a great job making recommendations and checking up to make sure we were ok. My 2 boys and I had the entire 22,000 acre preserve to ourselves. Talk about wildlife...We saw deer, gopher tortoises, an armidillo, an alligator, Pilated Wood Peckers, a Cardinal and various other birds. Best of all we enjoyed delicious wild blackberries at different locations throughout the park. If you can live without the conveniences of electric, water and on-site bathrooms...this is a State Park you don't want to miss!
Mike Michaels - Ft. Pierce, Florida - I planned a Labor Day weekend camping/fishing trip with my boyfriend Travis. We reserved Mullet Camp out by the south entrance to the park. To our surprise we get there and the road is almost unpassable. I have a little four door honda so needless to say I was a bit upset that I was never warned about the road conditions. This road went on for over a mile and the entire ride I was scared to the core of getting stuck in the mud or falling in a ditch. We finally find our parking spot for Mullet Camp and we are still a bit shaken up, but still begin our 3/8 of a mile hike to our cmp site. This I was warned about, but never realized how long 3/8 of a mile really is untill your carrying all of your camping gear. When we finally arrived at Mullet Camp it was beautiful! We had our own awesome dock (Tarpon everywhere) Definately worth the hike (but not the scary road). I wish we had one of the camp rangers assist us with the road. We basically were given luck then we were on our own. All in all I probably wont go back to that site unless I have a truck or soemone else's car, and a four wheeler to cart all of our gear to the site. Godo luck to those who have an adventerous spirit!
NICOLE THOMAN - FORT PIERCE, FL - Awsome park. I hiked to the eagle camp and wasnt far at all and was well worth the treck. Best marked trails i have seen yet and excellent map at the park. Wish the map was online but the quality of it makes up for not being online. Camp was in oaks with a large concreet fire pit and benches and even a building to camp in if the weather gets extra rough. Saw plenty of wild blackberry bushes but none ripe unfortunatly. Going to come back and do the other camp sites next. Deffinitly worth hiking. Saw 3 deer 1 turkey 1 rabbit 1 quail and a bunch of armadillo. Bring extra water.
Nathanael p - , fl - We love the park and visit often. This is a great place to see manatees. A wonderful place for solitude!
Sandy - Palm Bay, FL - St. Sebastian is our favorite place for horseback riding in this area. We have ridden the trails since before it was offically open over 10 years ago. We especially appreciate that they no longer plowing up the trails. The trails are now gorgeous, as is the entire park.
The burned dead trees near the Horse Camp area are little frightening since they are starting to fall on the trail. The new trail markers are great.
